For yesterday, for today, for tomorrow we must always remember . . .
I Remember You
Do you remember me?
I remember you
From the moment I was called
To give up my life for you
I left my home
My wife, my children
My goals and dreams
I gave up everything for you
My wife pleading for me to stay
My children crying daddy don’t go
Their little arms wrapped tightly around my knees
Still, I walked out that door
You may not remember me
To you I may have just been a stranger
A soldier, a part of history
But to me, you were everything
You were Our country
Our liberty, Our freedom
What a person has to do when they know
Some things are more important than they are
I look down on sun-dusted daffodils,
Sweet corn and open fields
Children laughing, playing carefree
And my heart stirs and I feel the glory
In yesterday, in today, in tomorrow
In the stars in the heavens where I rest
I see you and what my sacrifice did for you
No, I can never forget you
Please, don’t forget me
