Poetry for Everyone
Poetry is the voice of words
Spoken in feelings
Cidalia describes her poetry as “poetry for everyone”. In her own words she writes, “I am just an ordinary person who writes about what I know and what I feel. Although I write about my feelings, I know, as human beings, we share common feelings. We all know pain, suffering, grief and loss, fear and despair but also hope, faith, peace and joy, gratitude and love”.
Seasons of the Heart is her first book of poetry and the realization of a lifelong desire to tell her story, the story of the seasons of her own life, which reflect and resonate with the beautiful and bittersweet journey of the human heart.
The following poem is an excerpt from her book Seasons of the Heart.
Places From Which We Never Return
There are places we go to
From which we never return
Loves we lose
We can never find again
Broken places, hurting parts
We can never glue back together again
Silent sadness like precious marrow
Pillaged and forsaken, time and time again
Pains we bear
For which there is no pill
No therapy, no cure
To make us whole again
Bruises that will not heal
No band aids for skinned hearts
Tears that cry us dry
And thunder in our brains
Grief that chains us without mercy
Remorse, like mosquito bites
That just won’t go away
Biting our sorry hearts out
Memories we cannot shed
Growing like wild flowers
In the silence in between words
Taking root and taking storm
There are places we go to
In the deep of the dark
Quiet places in the well of the soul
From which we never return
